We are pleased to introduce our new practice at Tucan Amazon Lodge: All our guests now have the opportunity to plant a tree in the Amazon to support the conservation of the rainforest.
The Amazon is in Danger
The world’s largest tropical rainforest is not only a biological treasure but also crucial to maintaining the Earth’s climate and balance. With its incredible species diversity and over 390 billion trees, the Amazon plays an irreplaceable role in our global ecosystem.
Each year, the Amazon suffers from deforestation, where vast areas lose their natural forest cover due to agriculture, mining, and other human activities. According to data from the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), an area equivalent to a football field of forest disappears every second. This has serious consequences for the climate, wildlife, and indigenous populations of the region. Many scientists now warn that we are nearing a tipping point, where it will be impossible to reverse the catastrophe and the rainforest we know today. This must not happen under any circumstances, so it is of paramount importance that everyone reacts and recognizes the seriousness. More about this will be discussed in future blog posts.
Protecting the Amazon – Plant a Tree in the Amazon
We urge guests to take action against deforestation, so please plant a tree in the Amazon by Tucan Amazon Lodge. You not only show your support for the Amazon but also play an active role in conservation with this symbolic action. We invite you to join us in this important effort to preserve the world’s most valuable rainforest. You can also contribute to WWF Brasil’s work by making a donation or becoming a member. The Brazilian organization ISA, Instituto Socioambiental, with its office in Manaus, plays a pivotal role in defending Brazil’s socio-environmental diversity through its mission. We encourage you to become a regular donor. Together, we can make a difference for the Amazon and future generations.
